ago, I began posting about my personal clothing purchases each month – partly to help hold myself accountable for my spending (to keep it in
check!), but also as a way to share some great finds with all of you!
Since I skipped the month of August due to scheduling conflicts, today’s
post is a combination of pieces purchased both last month & this month.
If you’re new to my site, rest assured that I don’t normally spend this
much all at once…and I also only buy new items using money I’ve made
from selling old clothes on PoshMark. This
is a system I’ve found that works for me to ensure that my closet isn’t overflowing &
to prevent excessive impulse purchases.
beginning of every new season, in addition to editing my wardrobe, I also sit down and create my shopping strategy. I make a list of items – one
column with “must haves” (these are pieces that either need to be
replaced in my closet or everyday needs like jeans, sleepwear, workout gear,
etc.) and the other column with “wants” (these are items that I’d
like to buy, but are not necessary, such as leopard pumps or a plaid scarf).
I focus on acquiring the must haves first and if I still have budget left
over, then I tackle the things at the top of my wish list.
chose to buy versatile pieces in neutral colors that I know I will wear on
a regular basis. In most cases, I waited for a sale or free shipping code (which I always recommend, when possible). In addition to the
items below, I also purchased the faux leather shorts & cardigan seen here. If you have a great method for staying within your shopping budget, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
