Red Alert

For the most part, I have no problem putting outfits together quickly – but for some reason, when it comes to dressing for church, I struggle every single Sunday.  I want to look stylish & polished, dressed up but not over-the-top…while still staying true to my own personal taste.  This particular outfit seemed to be the perfect compromise – I’m still wearing trendy pieces (bright trousers + printed peplum), but the overall look is simple (just one statement accessory) & sophisticated.  Maybe those of you who work in a conservative office environment can relate?  If so, I’d love to hear your solutions & favorite outfit combinations in the comments below.

What I’m wearing:

H&M top (similar), Mossimo blazer (here), LOFT trousers (similar here or here), Marc Fisher heels (similar), ASOS clutch (on sale here), Ann Taylor cuff (similar here or here), Target sunnies (similar), Nails: OPI A Roll in the Hague

You did a great job of dressing conservatively but also very fashionable! I love everything about this outfit and would probably even wear it outside of church. The peplum top looks great under the short jacket and that clutch is too cute! I am excited for when target hits Canada this spring! Have a great Monday xo

    Such a fun look!
I'm actually starting my job as a therapist this week and I was actually just thinking about this! I want to remain true to my style but of course be appropriate and professional. I decided that actually similar to your outfit post, I'm going to allow myself to wear bright, fun colors, because that's who I am and wearing color makes me happy:). I'm just going to make sure the rest of my outfit is clean and simple and that the bright pieces are still professional. For example, today I went into work just to get myself acquainted with everything, and I wore a bright purple pencil skirt, but a simple black sweater, black tights and black pointy bow flats.

Love the outfit! I absolutely am in the situation of needing to dress conservatively since I work as an environmental engineer at a manufacturing facility. Can't really do heels. My usual outfit is pants and a cardie with a cami or top underneath. I try to dress it up with accessories but not over the top.

I have the same problem with dressing for church. I don't want to wear anything too outrageous that would draw attention, yet I always like to look stylish and put-together. I find that blazers are typically what I went up wearing to church as a mean of "tempering" the rest of whatever I'm wearing.

I don't have the problem, but I know when I was younger and went to church that we always wore our best clothes that we could sit comfortably in for 3 hours. You look like you can do that in this! It's a win for me.

Love this outfit! I work in a somewhat conservative office environment (no jeans, shorts, capris, sleeveless tops, sandals, or open-toed shoes) where wearing red pants would probably be a stretch, but I would definitely wear that top with black pants and a red jacket or cardigan! To add excitement to my outfits, I keep most items neutral and add one standout piece… whether it be a colorful cardigan, printed top, statement necklace, or a bright scarf!

You are absolutly correct. This is what I wear to work at a conservative investment banking group. My red pants are one of my favorite solutions to dressing for me and the job. Looking forward to more Sundy church blogs…to find inspiration for the week ahead.
