Cashmere is one of those timeless wardrobe staples that I believe is always worth splurging on – it’s so soft & luxurious and holds up well year after year. Even though it’s typically more expensive, there are ways to invest wisely without spending more than you need to. This sweater is one of my favorite recent purchases – I love that the ruffled sleeves are shorter so they don’t cover my hands or get in the way throughout the day. Not all cashmere is made equal, but this one is so plush & well made…and it’s currently 60% off!
J. Crew Factory also makes cashmere sweaters that are great for layering (I have them in two colors). Other brands that I personally own are Aqua & Halogen (plus an amazing thrifted find from Goodwill!). If you’re super sensitive to itchy fabrics, you might want to look for a cashmere that’s blended with silk or cotton (just check the label to make sure there’s no wool in the mix). I’ve also heard great things about Everlane‘s cashmere & I thought this article was so interesting about how the actual cost of this fiber has gone down in the last year.
When it comes to caring for this delicate fabric, I recommend purchasing shampoo that is specifically formulated to clean your knitwear while maintaining the natural softness of the fibers. It’s also worth it to pick up a sweater comb to gently & safely remove any pilling that occurs over time. If you’re looking to invest in some cashmere this season, see my top picks in the scrolling bar below that are all under $100!
