All opinions are 100% honest & all items were hand-selected by me.
The right accessories can make all the difference in completing your look & transforming a wardrobe favorite into a versatile multi-tasker. The beauty of learning to utilize accessories well is that you don’t need to have a closet full of statement pieces because a few carefully selected accents can elevate your outfits from basic to compliment-inducing. Today I’m partnering with Nordstrom to share some examples of how making a few simple accessory swaps can easily shift your look from relaxed to polished, day to evening or brunch to cocktails.
Even though the focus of this post is accessories, I would be remiss if I didn’t call out the amazing fit (& comfort!) of this little black jumpsuit. I think this is one of those pieces that will flatter any figure and, as you’ll see below, it’s a cinch to dress up or down. This would be perfect to take with you on vacation because it’s so lightweight & breezy. The fabric belt is attached, but only in the back, so you can tie it in the front or back depending on the type of look you’re going for – plus, it has pockets! I found this to run true to size (I’m 5’8″ for length reference).
For a laid-back daytime look, I added a printed scarf, neutral slide sandals & a classic panama hat – all wardrobe must-haves, in my opinion! These sandals come in 4 different color options (two raffia colors & two suede) – I love this style because you can quickly slide them on & go. They have a good amount of cushioning and aren’t as narrow as others I’ve tried, which makes them much more comfortable (I went up half a size). Other sandals I’m loving right now: these snake print heels, these studded slides & these wedge espadrilles (worth every penny – I wore mine all last summer!).
What I’m wearing:
c/o Halogen Panama Hat, c/o All In Favor Jumpsuit,
c/o BP Leopard Scarf (similar here or here),
c/o Halogen Pendant Necklace, c/o Treasure & Bond Slide Sandals
To give this jumpsuit a polished & modern feel, I added a leather belt & matching cognac accessories – I’ve always loved black & brown together and I think this combination looks so striking! I’m a big fan of the top handle bag trend that’s happening this season – this one has a vintage-inspired shape & is the perfect size for holding just the essentials (I fit my phone, keys, card case & lipstick inside). Nordstrom has so many great budget-friendly bags right now, including this crochet satchel, this wooden top handle bag, this everyday tote & this round bamboo crossbody.
And let’s not forget about the importance of jewelry for completing your looks – a little shine goes a long way! My favorites pieces are usually more minimalist & classic like these sleek bangles, this layered necklace or these drop earrings. I also love jewelry with natural elements like these wood hoops & these stone stacking bracelets. If you’re looking for statement makers, check out these tortoise earrings, these resin hoops or these fringe drops.
What I’m wearing:
c/o All In Favor Jumpsuit (another option here)
c/o Halogen Leather Belt, TopShop Slingback Pumps,
c/o TopShop Wood Box Bag, c/o Something Navy Earrings,
c/o Uncommon James Bangles, c/o BP Sunglasses
I’m all about dressing for comfort, so I’m fully on board with the trend of wearing sneakers with dresses for spring. Not only are they more supportive than sandals, but it gives any dress a fun sporty vibe that’s perfect for daytime. Add a denim jacket and a little bucket bag & you’re set for a day of shopping, exploring the city or heading to the farmer’s market. If you’re looking to add more sneakers to your closet, check out these platform sneakers (love the blush!), these slip-ons (I own in two colors) or this cute espadrille style.
This midi was the perfect piece to style for day & evening thanks to a feminine print & sleek silhouette. I love subtle ruffle on the straps and the open back detail (thankfully, it isn’t too low – I was still able to wear with a regular bra). There are two other dresses that come in this same print – this flattering wrap style & this ruffled mini. Other styles that I think would be just as versatile include this sleeveless knit dress, this polka dot jumpsuit, this red midi or this floral print dress.
What I’m wearing:
Madewell Denim Jacket, c/o Leith Floral Midi Dress,
c/o Madewell Coin Necklace, c/o Sole Society Bucket Bag,
TopShop Sneakers
To make the switch to evening, I simply swapped out my sneakers for classic black heels & added a few feminine touches with pearl drop earrings & a scalloped clutch. I couldn’t wait to try out the hair accessory trend with this chic headband. The key to keeping it from veering into juvenile territory is to choose a style that’s simple & chic (this one also comes in pink, white or stripes). More headbands to try: this leopard print style, this skinny leather style or this knotted style.
