Sometimes when I’m putting an outfit together, I like to start with the shoes. Case in point, when these twinkling cap-toed beauties arrived, I knew I wanted to build an outfit around them. So I started from the bottom up and decided to juxtapose the dressed-up feel of the pumps with my favorite skinny jeans. And since I loved the design of these shoes so much, I repeated the texture of the sparkling stones + smooth leather by topping it off with a spotted blouse & (faux) peplum top. It worked so well, I’m starting to think maybe I should begin all my outfit planning this way…
I think the length of this blouse is perfect as well as the volume in the sleeves. I tried a blouse on under my peplum a while back and looked like Zorro. This is perfect though! Love the spotted blouse with this top!

Those heels are gorgeous. What a great outfit! I usually start my outfit with 1 item that I want to wear and build from there. I can't believe your purse is from Target – it looks so high end.

I really love how you paired the peplum tops with a blouse. I've never seen that before. Nice!
No wonder you started with your shoes – they are fabulous! Great idea to wear the blouse under your fantastic leather top.

I love how you're wearing the sleeveless top almost like a vest. It looks really great! I do plan outfits from the shoes up sometimes, but I think it would get old (and difficult) if you did it everyday!

That peplum looks great! I've been eyeing it on Piperlime for about a week now. Good to know it looks good in person (sometimes you never know with faux leather).

How do you get your Rock Star jeans to not look like jeggings? If I go up a size they bug sags but the calves are still crazy tight, if I get the size that fits my hips and butt the legs look like sausage casings!! I keep hearing great things about them and have a pair that I never wear because they are scandalous!!!
Love the peplum layered like this. I debated the leather peplum a few weeks ago and ultimately passed (Florida is so rough for wearing it) but adore it layered.
PS: those jeans are my favorite of yours. PERFECT fit.
And, the heels? Let's just say I'm having major shoe envy today.
It's crazy how the leather top looks so much higher quality on you than on the Piperlime model! I've been eyeing this piece, but felt really unsure about how it would look in person.
Great outfit – love the layered blouse!

It's amazing how much higher quality this leather top looks on you than on the Piperlime model! I've been eyeing this piece, but was unsure how it would look in person. Tinley Road has such great vegan leather options.
Great outfit – love the layered blouse!
I have that H&M blouse. I love the way you layered it under the leather. Now I want to try to figure out how I can replicate this!

I love this look! I tried on a faux leather peplum top very similar to this a few months ago. I liked it but I was stumped as to how to wear it, I wish I would have thought of this. Now I'm mad at myself for not purchasing it. And I love that Target bag, it looks so much more expensive than it is. I think I might have to cave and buy it!

Just ordered the shoes. They were only left in my size. Yay!
Love this while outfit so much. It's nice to follow a fashion blogger who shares affordable pieces.
Wow, I love this look. I think I would have gone with black ankle boots, but that's just me.
I would have never thought to pair a peplum top with a button down shirt like this. Genius!! I have a very similar peplum top from Target and I've been waiting until it gets warm to wear it…but it appears now I don't need to wait. Thanks for the great idea! Happy Friday!
i love your shoes and the way you styled the peplum blouse

Love the blouse under the leather peplum. I have a leather peplum just like this and was looking for ways to vary its wear. Thanks for the idea :)! Shoes are definitely cute :). I definitely think building an outfit around the one thing you really want to wear works!
I love the layering with the leather top!!! xo, Christina+

My Mom always said it is easier to start at the bottom and work your way up. You can always find a dress to go with your shoes, but not necessarily the other way around! I really like the cap toes. The sparkle is subtle.

Love those jeans…and they're so affordable! I've never tried on the rock star skinny jeans from Old Navy but I've heard you have to size up in them. Did you have to do that? Also, did you get regular or tall?
Hi Lyda,
I did go up a size in these & I got the regular length because I liked that they hit me just above the ankle. I'm 5'8" for reference. Hope that helps – they are super comfortable 🙂

Kimberly

I'm not sure I would have ever thought 1. to buy a leather peplum top or 2. that a leather peplum could look so stylish before this post! The look is so elegantly chic. Finally, I love how even though this look is stunning, the price of the pieces are not extremely over the top!
I can't wait to see more!
