Every year around this time, I start getting tons of questions about where to find shorts for the season that aren’t too short. I’ve talked in depth about how I won’t wear anything shorter than a 4″ inseam – part of that is because I’m tall, but mostly it just has to do with my own personal comfort level (I jokingly use this phrase when clothes shopping with my teenage daughter: “modest is hottest”).
I think there’s a fine line between finding shorts that offer the right amount of coverage, but don’t look like “mom shorts”. My well-meaning husband shrank some of mine in the wash last summer so I needed to find a couple replacements this year. I’ve also had great luck in the past with shorts from LOFT, Banana Republic & Mango. Sometimes you can also order online from sites that offer tall sizing to get a bit of extra length.
