The snow is finally melting, the temperatures are climbing and the days are getting longer, which can only mean one thing – spring is just around the corner! Now is the time to start embracing the new season by freshening up your wardrobe with pretty prints, airy fabrics and a lighter, brighter color palette. I’ve never believed that you need to buy a whole new wardrobe each season – all it takes is adding a few new versatile pieces to your closet that you can mix & match with what you already own. I’m highlighting a few of my favorites for you below & sharing the best new arrivals at JCPenney – all on sale now! Right now, you can get 20% off any purchase or 25% off when you spend $100 or more with code SPRING20.
DENIM JACKET + STRIPED TOP + WHITE SKIRT
Everyone should have a denim jacket in their closet – it’s my go-to weekend outerwear of choice during the warm weather months. The other one I own is a classic denim that’s pretty stiff, so I like that this one has some stretch & give to it, which makes it really comfortable – and for less than $25, you can’t beat the price! Other great jackets for spring include this lightweight trench, this casual anorak & this classic blazer.
I’m always a sucker for stripes, so I was instantly drawn to the neutral color of this square neck top. This also comes in a blue floral print – I just love the tie detail on the sleeves (recommend sizing down). It would also be great with jeans, but I paired it with this white denim skirt for a fresh spring feel. JCPenney has so many cute tops in pretty colors & prints for the new season – if you need some new options to freshen up your wardrobe, check out this lyocell chambray shirt, this printed tunic, this twist-front tee, this puff-sleeve blouse or this tie-front top.
I wear my white jeans year-round and love how versatile they are, so I was excited to find a skirt version that I know I’ll get just as much use out of. The straight cut & raw hem give this a more modern feel – it’s perfect for pairing with graphic tees & sneakers, tanks & sandals or flowy tops & heels. I found this skirt to run true to size + it has a good amount of stretch, so it’s easy to move around in (if you need a longer length, try this one).

SMOCKED TOP + CROPPED DENIM + LOAFER MULES
Smocked pieces are still popular this year & there are so many ways to try out this feminine trend. I chose this knit top because I think it’s universally flattering thanks to the smocked bust & peplum hem. This also comes in mint green & would be so cute with white jeans! This is a great example of a top that can easily be dressed up or down without feeling too fancy. Other smocked options under $20 to try: here, here, here & here.
I’m a big fan of the kick crop silhouette & these jeans are such a great price for the quality. I have a pair from last year that I’ve worn a ton, so I was thrilled to see they brought these back again. If you’re looking to give your skinny jeans a break, I highly recommend trying these out! They also come in black & in a lighter wash – I found them to run true to size (for length reference, I’m 5’8″).
It’s not quite warm enough for sandals yet, so mules are the perfect footwear choice. I’ve been slowly acquiring more of these because I like how easy they are to just slip on & go. I realized I didn’t have any light colored flats, so I picked up these loafer mules & I think they’ll go with everything! I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they are & that they didn’t require any breaking in time. I also just ordered this raffia pair for summer (so chic!) and I’m loving these snake-print mules, these studded mules & these peep-toe mules.
