One of the questions I get asked the most often is how to elevate everyday casual looks. So I decided to dedicate a post to answering that today & to share with you an outfit example featuring some of my favorite new arrivals from Nordstrom! Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom who wants to look put-together for play dates or you’re a teacher who needs polished pieces to wear in the classroom or you’re just looking for some weekend wear that’s a bit more sophisticated than jeans & a tee, these 3 wardrobe staples will serve you well + you can wear them both now & later! Read on for my styling tips + more affordable options for fall…
LIGHTWEIGHT CARDIGAN
This cardigan is an airy linen blend, so it’s perfect for our current weather and the color is so pretty for transitioning into fall (it also comes in a gorgeous green hue). I love the relaxed fit & slouchy sleeves, which makes it ideal for weekend wear (recommend sizing down). It would also be great layered over a floral dress like this or this – try adding a belt at the waist to further define your shape. More cardigans worth checking out: this ribbed cocoon sweater, this open-front gray cardigan & this striped duster.
DARK WASH JEANS
I’ve heard all my friends rave about these jeans and now I finally understand the obsession! There’s a hidden elastic waistband that ensures you get a flawless fit + they really suck everything in. I’d say these fit more like a jegging, which means they won’t stretch out & get saggy by the end of the day (I went with my usual size). Other denim that I’m loving for fall include these crop flares, these gray skinnies & this distressed pair (all under $65!)
COMFORTABLE FLATS
I’m a huge fan of Sole Society shoes because they are well made, comfortable and hold up so well – in fact, the oldest pair of heels in my closet is from this brand & they’re still going strong! I personally don’t mind splurging on supportive & comfortable flats and the velvet texture of these loafers is to die for (they also come in a striking midnight blue). I actually ordered this pair to try too and they are a great price – they weren’t quite as supportive as the Sole Society loafers, but the leather is buttery soft & they’re super comfortable. More flats to try: these leopard slingbacks, these embellished flats, this knotted pair & these suede mules.
