Let’s be honest – skinny jeans will probably never go out of style and I, for one, won’t be abandoning mine completely…but there’s something that feels so fresh about a slightly different silhouette for spring. Less restrictive, more modern and yet still figure-flattering, these are the best options for any shape (in my opinion)!
JCPenney recently provided me with a gift card to shop, so I thought it would be fun to share with you what I got (I was not paid to write this post, I just genuinely loved what I found!). I’m a JCP cardholder and I shop pretty regularly in store for my husband & kids…but, other than activewear (love their Xersion line!), I hadn’t purchased anything for myself for a while. Their new arrivals pleasantly surprised me and I ended up buying several items above & beyond my gift card amount because they were that good!
This top is more of a trendy piece, but I loved the flattering shape and lightweight fabric – this will also be cute with black shorts & sandals in the summer (there’s a matching skirt too). And how fun is this bamboo handled satchel? It looks way more expensive than the price tag suggests! Other pieces I picked up include this eyelet dress, this ruffled white top & these soft pull-on pants (in the leaf print).
These might be my favorite jeans ever – yep, you read that right! The fit is absolute perfection & they are so flattering – even my husband who only likes skinny jeans said that these were definite keepers. What’s great about these is that they look like a crop straight leg jean from the front, but when you turn to the side, you can see the subtle kick flare. I went down a size & they fit like a glove (love the high rise!) – these also come in black & a lighter blue wash.

Anything that’s blue & white striped is a winner in my book, especially for the spring & summer months! I love the button detail & side tie on this top – it is slightly shorter in length so I opted to get it in the tall size since I have a longer torso. It also comes in solid black, mustard & a pretty multi-colored stripe (recommend sizing down).
I’m a big fan of wide leg pants for spring but when I began my search for a great fitting pair, I quickly realized I would need a high rise in order for them to fit my shape properly. I wore another pair from JCPenney last week that I’d also recommend (seen in this post). I went down a size in these and love that they aren’t too sheer!
When it comes to styling wide leg pants, it’s so important to choose your shoes wisely – if you’re wearing sandals with an ankle strap, I recommend picking something in a light neutral/nude or selecting a style with a skinny ankle strap so it doesn’t visually shorten your legs. These type of pants also look great with slide sandals, sneakers & mules (pointed pumps & slingbacks work too for a dressier feel).
