There’s a lot going on here at Penny Pincher Fashion, if you missed last week’s announcement check out this post! I’m beyond excited to be here and look forward to getting to know this community of wonderful women!
Today I want to share with you some statement tops for transition from late summer to fall. I love what this time of year brings, especially for wardrobe options. We attended an outdoor concert the other night and it was perfect weather for this chunky tank top and jeans. Green is such a popular color this year and it’s usually NOT my go-to color. However, I wanted to try something different for the season transition. I was loving how this looked with my new high-rise jeans. These jeans were bought second-hand since I had never tried this style before, they are surprisingly comfortable! My sandals are from Italy (insert daydream) when we took a two week vacation there back in 2017. They are a true investment piece and go with a lot of outfits.
What I like most about trends this time of year are the warm colors, soft textures, and all the layers. This year, if you’re feeling like you need a little refresh in your closet without spending a fortune, try incorporating a new fun top. I bought this one a few months ago and was so excited for the weather to cool down and wear it!
I’m not one for buying into trends, since they come and go… that gets expensive! If I feel that I need a little boost in my wardrobe, I’ll shop around for one or two refresher items, like this top.
Below is an assortment of statement top options for your summer to fall transition wardrobe, all on budget. Now, these are not extravagant statements by any means. You’ll notice, though, that each has a fun flare too it – color, ruffles, poof, pattern, length. You get the idea. It’s all about the (understated) details. Keep scrolling for bottoms & accessory pairings.
I like to pair tops like this with simple bottoms, preferably jeans. If you need to dress up these tops for a special occasion or for going to the office, I’ve linked a couple of skirt options and my favorite Pixie Pant from Old Navy. The bottoms below can be paired with most of the tops shown above. Mixing and matching is so important when you’re extending the wear of your wardrobe.
Then, for accessories, keep it simple. I love the warm leather bags and classic hoop earring to bring polish off this look.
