All opinions are 100% honest & all items were hand-selected by me.
It’s that time of year when bundling up before heading outdoors is an absolute necessity – warm layers are essential to surviving the cold! My strategy is to choose fabrics that will hold in my body heat without being too bulky – I’ve learned the hard way that oversized pieces aren’t always the best because there is more room for cold air to get in. I think the key to pulling off multiple layers is to keep proportions in balance & focus on silhouettes that flatter your shape.
Today I’m sharing 3 warm winter outfits featuring pieces from Macy’s Black Friday Sale that just launched – get 20% off select styles with code BLKFRI + free shipping at $25! You won’t believe the amazing deals I found on some of the best coats, sweaters & boots for the season – prices won’t drop this low again, so now is the time to shop! I’ve put together three different looks – classic, casual & modern – so hopefully there’s something here for everyone.
To keep things simple, I chose to wear the same cashmere turtleneck in all three looks, which further proves the versatility of this wardrobe staple. This is such a timeless layering piece that you can wear dressed up or down & it’s under $40! It comes in 18 different colors & it runs true to size (I’d size up if you want to layer underneath).
WRAP COAT
In my opinion, wrap coats are the most classic & feminine of all the outerwear styles because the built-in belt instantly creates a flattering silhouette. These are ideal for wearing with more polished separates, dresses & skirts or over your office attire. The leopard pattern on this one makes it such a fun statement piece, while the neutral colors give it some good versatility. More options worth checking out during the sale: this plaid coat, this faux fur collar coat & this long black wool coat.
I actually bought these leather boots on my own a couple months ago because I was needing a new brown pair. The shaft height is perfect for wearing with jeans, dresses or skirts (the pointed toe helps to elongate your legs) and the block heel makes them so comfortable. There are so many great boots marked down right now – these duck boots are under $20, these neutral boots will go with everything, these over-the-knee boots are less than $55 (flat option here) & these heeled booties are just $41!

PUFFER COAT
When we first moved to NY, I made the mistake of buying the cheapest puffer coat I could find – I was interested more in how it looked than how it performed (mainly because I was clueless about just how harsh the winters were here). I quickly learned that this is not an area to skimp on and that it was worth it to invest in a well-made coat that would stand up to the freezing temperatures.
This coat is the best of both worlds because it’s stylish & so incredibly warm. This seems like a small detail, but I really appreciate that the zipper doesn’t go all the way to the bottom of the coat, which makes it so much easier to walk & sit down with it all the way zipped – in my opinion, every puffer should be made this way! I love the leather details, the faux fur trim hood (which is removable) & the adjustable snap tabs at the waist. This comes in 8 different colors & runs true to size.
If you’re looking for a more affordable option that doesn’t have a down fill, I also own this one from last year that’s surprisingly warm (see me wearing it here). And if you live somewhere that has milder winters, this packable puffer is a great option (shorter length here). I also own this one, which is a good mid-weight option for fall & early winter – love the diamond quilting & that it’s waterproof.

FAUX FUR COAT
This is definitely the most modern of the three looks & a bit of a departure for me, but I love that it has a little edge to it! I can’t say enough good things about these faux leather leggings – they are so flattering & they also come in a pretty wine color here. I added this sleek belt bag to help define my waist & finished it off with my favorite sock booties – I’ve gotten so much wear out of these!
The color of this coat instantly caught my eye – I’ve been loving all things rust this year and, even though it’s more of a traditional fall hue, I think you can wear it all winter long. Of course, after I placed my order, I came across this coat, which is the same color & style for less. Other faux fur options to try: this soft neutral coat (see me wearing it here), this black zip-front coat (love the collar!) & this burgundy jacket.
