I’ve always believed that word of mouth is the best way to learn about new products – it’s the same reason that retailers began adding customer reviews to their sites (which I read religiously before clicking ‘add to cart’). And that was the impetus for creating this new series – it’s a fun way to share my favorite things with you, just like I would with my girlfriends over coffee. For those who are new here, these posts are simply highlighting a few random things I’ve bought & am currently loving (nothing sponsored or gifted). So, without further ado, here are my finds for this month:
I love adding a belt to shorts, skirts & dresses in the warm weather months because it’s a great way to further define your waist & create a little added interest (as evidenced by the photo above). Sometimes, though, a traditional leather belt feels to stiff for flowy sundresses & linen shorts, so woven options are my top pick for the season. This is one of those accessories you can buy now & use forever – most of them don’t even have set holes so they are easily adjustable! I’ve bought a few recently & have already worn them a handful of times (#3, 5 & 7 above). These are a few of my favorites, but you can also check Goodwill or eBay for some unique vintage styles.
Even if you don’t live in a state where they’ve banned plastic bags, I still think it’s a good idea to switch to something more eco-friendly. I was previously using a handful of flimsy canvas bags that I’d acquired over the years and it was driving me nuts because they had no structure to them, so my groceries would end up getting smashed or toppling over & spilling out in the car. I ordered these reusable bags after reading the rave reviews & I couldn’t be happier. They come in a set of three & they are made from a sturdy material with a reinforced bottom and extra long handles so they’re easy to carry. They also collapse easily so you can store them in your car or cupboard at home + I just loved the cute chevron pattern!
I have super sensitive skin so I haven’t had a lot of success in the past with self-tanners. But, this is also the time of year when I start to feel like my skin is a little too pasty & in need of some color. A friend of mine told me about this face serum & actually let me borrow hers to test out before ordering (thanks Julie!). I was so impressed with the results that I quickly bought some for myself. What I like about this product is that it gradually builds color, so the results are really natural & subtle – plus, it has vitamin C & hyaluronic acid which helps give skin a healthy glow. I personally didn’t have any transfer issues, but I’m really careful to wash my hands well after applying and let it dry completely. This ships for free & right now they are also offering a free package of their mineral sunscreen along with your purchase!
We’re going camping for Memorial Day weekend, so I’ve started pulling all of our gear out of storage and making sure we have everything we need to pack into our trailer. When I opened the bin with our water gear, I realized that our beach towels seriously needed to be replaced (to be fair, we’ve had them since my kids were little & they’re now 11 & 15). So I went on the hunt for some new ones & found so many great options from the Opalhouse line at Target. Not only are the prints festive & fun for summer, but the quality is great & I love that most of them are an XL size – perfect for my tall family! Other options worth checking out include this classic Cabana stripe, this hibiscus print & this pineapple patterned towel.
Who else finds themselves going on Amazon to place a restock order & ends up randomly adding things to their cart? I don’t even remember what I was searching for when I came across this brush, but it’s a total game-changer & immediately replaced the kabuki brush I was previously using. It comes with a handy little cover to protect the bristles when stored + it has to be the softest brush I’ve ever owned. The way the bristles are curved is magical because one swipe somehow gives me a flawless application right where I want it. I’ve been using it mostly for bronzer & contouring, but you could also use this with your favorite setting powder.
I’m a big fan of jewelry made from natural elements – it’s so on trend right now & because they’re neutral-toned, they’re endlessly versatile. Accents in shells, wicker, wood, raffia & bamboo lend an organic & vintage-inspired vibe to your looks – perfect for summer, beach & vacations! I’ve included some of my affordable favorites below, but these are also great items to search for on Etsy & in your local thrift or vintage stores.
