I’m one of those people who is always curious to see what items other women carry in their purses or stock in their medicine cabinets. So, today I thought it would be fun to pull back the proverbial (shower) curtain and share with you the products I keep in my shower, why I love them & how I use them. I also included a few of my husband’s favorites here as well. Whenever possible, we try to buy brands that are formulated without parabens, phthalates & sulfates so you’ll see that reflected in our choices.
AQUIS Hair Towel
Technically this is used after showering, but it’s too good not to mention! This is a total game-changer in my opinion & I can’t live without mine (I take it with me every time I travel!). Regardless of your hair type, this helps cut down on drying time & eliminate frizz – it also comes in a handy turban style for those with shorter lengths.
Tula Purifying Face Cleanser
I don’t often get breakouts, but I swear they’ve been fewer & farther between since I’ve been using this. It’s so gentle on my sensitive skin & doesn’t feel like it’s stripping all my natural oil away. It also comes in a smaller travel size, which is perfect for testing out before buying the larger bottle.
Perricone MD Refreshing Shower Mask
I’m all about multi-tasking to help cut down on my getting ready time, so I love that this is a face mask I can do while I’m in the shower. I apply it right after my cleanser & leave it on while I wash my hair & shave. It’s steam-activated & leaves your skin so soft & hydrated – I rinse it off right before I step out of the shower & it feels like I’ve had a mini-facial (I use once a week).
Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Volume Shampoo
I’ve tried other shampoos over the years, but I keep coming back to this one because it gives me the volume I need without making my hair feel like straw. It’s normally $34 a bottle (which is pretty steep), but I just discovered it on Amazon Prime for half the price! Needless to say, I immediately stocked up.
Charcoal-Infused Pumice Stone
This is a great little tool for using on elbows, knees & feet…or any area that needs extra exfoliation. Since I don’t usually pay for salon pedicures, I use this religiously in the summer to remove dead skin cells & keep my feet soft – just be careful as you move it around your toes because it can scrape off nail polish.
Kristin Ess Purple Conditioner
This is a must-have for keeping my blonde highlights from looking brassy. A little goes a long way and I only apply this about halfway down & through my ends (avoiding my roots). I also don’t leave this on very long because it can turn ashy pretty quickly.
Sharper Image Bluetooth Shower Speaker
I constantly have music playing in our house and the bathroom is no exception! This wireless speaker connects to my phone so I can quickly & easily pull up whatever playlist I’m in the mood for (I may or may not have one named “Vocal Adrenaline” specifically for singing in the shower).
Carbonized Exfoliating Gloves
Over the summer, I accidentally left my loofah in one of the campground showers, so I ordered these on a whim and I like them so much better! They leave my skin feeling so soft and they’ve held up really well use after use.
SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Body Wash
I’ve raved about this brand before and for good reason – everything we’ve tried from this line has been phenomenal. This body wash is my current favorite because it lathers easily, the scent is heavenly & it doesn’t irritate my skin. This also comes in a scrub version (here), which is equally as good.
Gillette Venus Platinum Razor
Who else is guilty of “borrowing” their husband’s razor because the versions for men are so much better?! I did the same until I found this new option – it has a metal handle and 5 blades, which gives you a super close shave.
Every Man Jack Sandalwood Body Wash
I’m really sensitive to fragrances, so most men’s body washes are completely overpowering to me. This is a new-to-us brand that my husband has recently gotten hooked on and this particular scent is our favorite.
Every Man Jack Thickening Shampoo + Conditioner
We had a hard time finding a thickening shampoo for men that wasn’t chock-full of chemicals until we came across this one. It’s made from 96% naturally derived ingredients and it actually works!
Kiehl’s Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap
I refer to this as a “man-friendly” exfoliator – my husband uses this after he’s been working in the yard or after we’ve been camping. It removes everything & gently softens skin without being too harsh or irritating.
