Well, it looks like we’ve officially entered the winter season here in New York. We had our first big snowfall yesterday and, though we attempted to get pictures out in the elements, we quickly had to retreat to a covered location as the flakes got bigger & bigger. I love getting the chance to get creative with layers this time of year (mainly out of sheer necessity so I can stay warm!) & I’ve found that the best looks maintain a good balance of different fabric textures & weights.
For example, this bouclé coat is a thick knit, so if I were to layer it over a heavy sweater, my shape would be completely lost. But, pairing it with a fine merino wool pullover and faux leather skinny pants keeps proportions in check & lets the coat be the focal point.
I am a sucker for jewel tones this time of year, which is why I fell in love with this deep teal shade – such a nice change from my neutral outerwear and, thanks to the rich hue & sophisticated cut, it will be ideal for wearing over dresses for evening looks too! Other pieces in this stunning color: this ruched dress (on sale!), this tie-front tee, this turtleneck sweater & this printed crepe blouse. See more of my top picks below!
