Navigating the transition from winter to spring is always a bit tricky when it comes to getting dressed each day. It’s clearly still winter here in NY, but all the new spring arrivals are hitting stores & I’m finding myself growing more & more tired of all the dark hues in my closet.
Often times, bridging the gap between seasons is as simple as shifting to a lighter color palette – this way, even if you are still wearing multiple layers, your outfits still have a more spring-like feel. Now is the time to start packing away those tartan plaids & faux fur and begin pulling out your neutral knitwear & white denim (though I’ve been wearing mine all season long!).
This striped sweater is lightweight enough to carry me all through the spring & well into summer (with shorts & sandals). This runs true to size & comes in 6 different colors/stripes – I like that it’s slightly longer in the back so you can also wear it with leggings. Pink is a huge color trend for spring & one that I plan on fully embracing – it will be my first in the Color Crush series which I’m bringing back later this month! More pink favorites of mine include this cardigan, this vest, this ribbed tee & these flats.
What I’m wearing:
Old Navy Vest (also love this one & this one), Old Navy Sweater,
LOFT Chambray Shirt (similar under $20, under $30 or under $40),
Old Navy Jeans (similar here or here), NIKE Sneakers, Similar Hat,
Olivia Burton Watch (similar for less here), Nails: Essie Looks To Thrill
This is (maybe) an of the wall comment but how do you wear a knit hat without your hair being all static-y when you take it off?
My secret is to spray my roots with dry shampoo before putting it on – I use the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day one and it works like a charm!
Love these color combos! such a great mix of winter and intro to spring!

Sorry but I need to vent WHY WHY WHY is no one in any fashion photos of winter outfits wearing SOCKS! It is too cold to go bare ankle!
Sorry to frustrate you, Maria! We took these photos on a day when it was in the high 40’s, which felt quite manageable without socks based on what we’ve gotten used to this winter. I was going for a sporty casual look…but, you could easily swap out the sneakers for some socks and neutral ankle boots here. I will be sure to feature some outfits with socks going forward!
Ha Ha Thanks! I am just sick of winter!
Completely understand that – me too!!
That is a cute, bundled up sporty combo! 🙂 I need sneakers like yours!

Love love love. I’ve been in the mood for splashes of pink the past couple of weeks (https://hubcitygirl.com/2018/02/05/splash-of-pink-fashion-weekly-what-i-wore/) Maybe it’s just a little bit of early spring fever. Love me a gray and pink color palette and the blue denim gives an extra pop of color!
